Former special teams player Keith Burns was named Special Teams Coordinator for the Washington Redskins, the team announced.
Burns, 40, spent the past six seasons as assistant special teams coach with the Denver Broncos after ending a 13-year playing career. He spent 11 seasons in Denver, 10 with current Redskins Executive Vice President/Head Coach Mike Shanahan. He was part of Broncos teams that won Super Bowl XXXII and Super Bowl XXXIII.
"Keith was an excellent special teams player and a strong influence in the locker room for two Super Bowl championship teams," Shanahan said in a statement. "I know our players will enjoy playing for him."
