The Washington Redskins promoted offensive tackle Tom Compton from the practice squad to take the active roster spot of cornerback Cedric Griffin.
Griffin was suspended for the rest of the regular season for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.
Compton was a sixth-round draft pick by the Redskins this year out of South Dakota. He has yet to appear in an NFL game.
The Redskins also added two players to their practice squad, linebacker Kourtnei Brown and defensive back Korey Lindsey.
Brown was an undrafted rookie out of Clemson this year. He was with the San Francisco 49ers in the offseason.
Lindsey was a seventh-round pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2011, but he failed to make the team. He has spent time on the practice squads of the Arizona Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars.
