The Cincinnati Reds signed catcher Miguel Olivo to a minor-league contract with an invitation to their major-league spring training camp.
Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed Friday.
Olivo, 34, played in 87 games for the Seattle Mariners last season and hit .222 with 12 home runs and 29 RBI. He has 141 career home runs.
Olivo likely would be competing with 24-year-old Devin Mesoraco, a former first-round draft pick who was the Reds' backup catcher last season, for a roster spot behind starter Ryan Hanigan.
