DETROIT -- Henrik Zetterberg had two goals and an assist and Niklas Kronwall and Pavel Datsyuk a goal and two assists each to lead the Detroit Red Wings to a 5-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers at Joe Louis Arena on Saturday night.
Todd Bertuzzi also scored for Detroit, which picked up its first three power-play goals of the season after being 0-for-10 with the man advantage coming into the game. Daniel Alfredsson had three assists and Jimmy Howard made 32 saves, including an outstanding stop on Wayne Simmonds' shot from the point early in the third period while it was still 2-1
Erik Gustafsson and Tye McGinn scored for Philadelphia. Ray Emery stopped 25 shots for Philadelphia.
It was Flyers coach Craig Berube's third contest behind the bench after Peter Laviolette was fired Monday.
Kronwall's power-play goal with 8:52 remaining in the second period gave the Red Wings a 2-0 lead. The defenseman scored on a wrist shot from the left circle for his first goal of the season.
But Gustaffson answered just 34 seconds later to put the Flyers on the scoreboard. His first goal of the season came on a wrist shot from the right point that floated past Howard.
Datsyuk restored the two-goal margin with his power-play goal 3:08 into the third period. He beat Emery with a backhand shot from the slot, through a Bertuzzi screen, for Datsyuk's second goal.
But McGinn made it 3-2 with his first NHL goal just 2:38 later. He backhanded a rebound in from the slot after being called up from the minors earlier in the day.
Zetterberg picked up his third goal of the year with 6:12 left and added an empty netter in the final minute.
Bertuzzi opened the scoring with the Red Wings' first power-play goal of the season 7:13 into the game. He put a wrap-around effort past Emery for his first goal, just 24 seconds after Michael Raffl went off for hooking.
Philadelphia's Kris Newberry slashed Detroit's Jordin Tootoo in the back of the knee with 18.6 seconds left. Tootoo was helped to the locker room.
NOTES: Detroit D Brendan Smith was a healthy scratch and was replaced by Brian Lashoff in the lineup. RW Jordin Tootoo (shoulder) came off injured reserve and made his season debut for Detroit. He was on the fourth line along with C Luke Glendening, who made his NHL debut after being recalled from the Red Wings' AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids, Mich. Red Wings coach Mike Babcock also shook up his other lines. ... Flyers' C Vincent Lecavalier (lower body) and LW Scott Hartnell (upper body) were out after being injured Friday night. ... Detroit signed forward Anthony Mantha, its first round pick in the 2013 draft, to a three-year entry-level contract. Mantha is with Val d'Or of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. ... Philadelphia recalled LW Raffl and LW McGinn from its AHL Adirondack affiliate on Saturday.
