Ravens to promote Phillip Supernaw, sign Emmanuel Ogbuehi to practice squad

The Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson reports that the Ravens will sign Phillip Supernaw to the 53-man roster.

With tight end Dennis Pitta moving to injured reserve soon, the Ravens will promote tight end Phillip Supernaw to the 53-man roster, according to The Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson.

As you also see, the Ravens are also planning on signing tight end Emmanuel Ogbuehi to the practice squad. It's essentially the next man up philosophy — one tight goes down, another comes up. And then another fills the promoted one's spot.

Supernaw has appeared in one NFL game in his two-year career, and that was with the Texans a year ago. He has familiarity with the Gary Kubiak system, so moving Supernaw up to be the third tight end makes sense.

Ogbuehi underwent a workout with the Ravens on Tuesday prior to the Ravens deciding they'd like to bring him on, Wilson reported. He played college football at Georgia State and has previous stints with Washington, Miami and Cleveland.
