Ravens' Pierce may have been targeted in carjacking

Baltimore Ravens running back Bernard Pierce is OK following a carjacking and robbery at gunpoint Sunday night in Philadelphia.

CBS Channel 3 in Philadelphia reports that the gunman jumped from another car with an accomplice behind the while and robbed former Temple University star and a companion before taking Pierce's car.

Pierce's mother Tammy commented to the station regarding the attack, saying she believes her son was targeted because people knew who he was.

“First of all, I thank God that he’s fine. I don’t care whatever he lost — his car, whatever was in there. He’s fine,” Tammy Pierce said. “I think he was targeted because people knew who he was, and that’s sad.”

Pierce's BMW was later found abandoned and taken to a police garage to be searched for evidence. The suspects remain at large.
