The Minnesota Wild and New York Rangers are trying to shake things up after getting off to slow starts by engaging in a trade.
The Wild sent forward Darroll Powe and minor-league forward Nick Palmieri to the Rangers in exchange for forward Michael Rupp.
The Wild also also recalled top prospect Charlie Coyle, who was expected to make his NHL debut on Monday against Phoenix.
The Wild has lost four of six game after winning the first two. The addition of Rupp, 33, gives the Wild a veteran presence with Stanley Cup experience. He has no assists or goals in eight games this season and had four goals and one assist in 60 games last season.
The Rangers get depth at forward with the addition of Powe and Palmieri, and the Rangers need depth with the injuries to captain Ryan Callahan and rookie Chris Kreider.
Powe has not scored a point in eight games this season, but is an experienced penalty-killing forward.
Palmieri played in 38 NHL games last season for Toronto and Minnesota and had four goals and three assists in 2011-2012.
