The Texas Rangers agreed to extend the contract of right-handed pitcher Colby Lewis through the 2013 season, ESPN Dallas reported Monday.
Lewis will make a base salary of $2 million but could earn up to $4 million through incentives.
Lewis is out for the rest of the season with a torn flexor tendon in his pitching elbow. He said Saturday that he expects to start rebuilding arm strength in the next week.
He was 6-6 with a 3.43 ERA in 16 starts this year.
