The Texas Rangers put second baseman Ian Kinsler on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday because of bruised ribs.
Kinsler was injured while sliding into third base on Saturday. He felt pain while trying to swing the bat before Sunday's game so he was placed on the DL.
An All-Star last year, Kinsler is batting .302 with seven homers this season.
The Rangers also called up top prospect Jurickson Profar from Triple-A Round Rock. Profar, 20, entered the season as the top overall prospect in baseball according to both Baseball America and MLB.com.
