Down 6-4 in the bottom of the third, the Rangers were able to break through and take the lead when a three-run home run by Alex Rios off starter Cliff Lee drove in Adrian Beltre and Prince Fielder. With the game tied at 7-7 in the top of the fifth, the Phillies went on top to stay when John Mayberry drove in Asche and Carlos Ruiz with a double off Pedro Figueroa.
Tanner Scheppers (0-0) worked four innings and picked up a no-decision after he was roughed up for seven runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and three walks. Figueroa (0-1) picked up his first loss of the season after pitching 1 2/3 innings allowing four runs on four hits, punching out one, and walking one. Lee (1-0) got the win, going five innings and allowing eight runs on 11 hits with one strikeout and one walk. Rios was solid at the plate for the Rangers, going 3 for 5 with a home run, three runs, and three RBIs. Josh Wilson also had a great game, going 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs. Asche was 3 for 4 with a double, a home run, four runs, two RBIs, and a walk in the win.
