The Texas Rangers clinched a playoff berth by beating the Los Angeles Angels 8-7 in the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday, but Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre left the game in the seventh inning after aggravating a strained left shoulder.
Beltre's shoulder has been a problem for several weeks. He aggravated the injury in Sunday's first game, then hurt it again when he lunged for a line drive off the bat of Mark Trumbo in the second game.
Rookie Mike Olt replaced Beltre. Olt had been out since Sept. 12 with plantar fasciitis in the left foot.
Beltre is batting .319 with 36 homers and 100 RBIs.
