The Oakland Raiders released kick returner/wide receiver Josh Cribbs on Sunday, according to multiple media reports.
Cribbs signed a one-year contract in May but has been dealing with knee problems.
Cribbs received $225,000 of a one-year, $1.25 million deal, according to Yahoo! Sports. He was owed $865,000 in base salary and $160,000 in per-game roster bonuses.
Cribbs spent eight seasons with the Cleveland Browns and has been regarded as one of the NFL's top returners. He led the league in return yards in 2007. He averaged 27.4 yards per kick return last year, the third highest of his career. He also averaged 12.0 yards per punt return on a career-high-tying 38 returns.
He caught seven passes for 63 yards in 2012. For his career, he has 107 receptions for 1,161 yards with seven touchdowns.
