The Oakland Raiders want to restructure quarterback Carson Palmer's contract, ESPN reported Monday.
Palmer, 33, is scheduled to make $13 million this year.
The Raiders will likely have a competition for the starting job between Palmer and Terrelle Pryor. They plan to design plays for Pryor to give him playing time. Pryor played late in the season and started the season finale when Palmer was forced to sit out with cracked ribs and a bruised lung.
Pryor completed 13 of 28 passes for 150 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in the loss to the San Diego Chargers. He also rushed for 49 yards with a TD.
Palmer threw for 4,018 yards with 22 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 2012.
