The Green Bay Packers released quarterback Graham Harrell, which likely means Vince Young will back up Aaron Rodgers, ESPN reported Saturday.
Young led an 11-play, 80-yard scoring drive that resulted in a 1-yard touchdown pass to Jonathan Amosa in the third quarter of Friday's 17-10 preseason loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Young completed six of seven passes for 41 yards and had a 130.7 passer rating. He also rushed the ball three times for 39 yards, including a 21-yarder.
"I think Vince is definitely one of the players who took advantage of his opportunities tonight," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said after the game.
Harrell was 6-for-13 passing for 49 yards. He served as Rodgers' backup last season after spending two years on the practice squad.
Young signed with Green Bay on Aug. 5.
B.J. Coleman, who spent last season on the practice squad, is the only other quarterback on the Packers' roster.
The Packers wrap up the preseason Thursday at the Kansas City Chiefs.
