The father of the Louisville star Russ Smith told reporters Monday night in Atlanta that his son planned to enter the NBA draft after the Cardinals won the national title. The younger Smith acknowledged that the next day when he told SiriusXM "College Sports Nation" that "this is the right time."
But Louisville coach Rick Pitino told Sports Radio 790 in Louisville on Thursday that the junior guard remains uncertain regarding his future.
"Russ, I think, is 50-50," Pitino said. "He's a very confused young man in terms of his decision right now. He didn't want his dad to say that about him coming out. He wanted time to think of it."
Earlier, Pitino told CBSSports.com that Gorgui Dieng and Smith were joining the professional ranks, but said Chane Behanan is returning to the team. Behanan later confirmed that news through social media.
Senior point guard Peyton Siva is also leaving, but the team will add junior college point guard Chris Jones and Terry Rozier, who spent last season at Hargrave Military Academy.
Also returning is Kevin Ware, who suffered a gruesome-looking broken right leg in Louisville's win over Duke University.

The school submitted its findings in a disposition to the NCAA, and the newspaper obtained a copy through the Iowa open records law.
The university found that six current and former members of the ISU football and men's basketball coaching staffs could face potential NCAA penalties.
All are at risk of an NCAA show-cause penalty. According to the paper, the violations spring from coaches not properly recording phone calls when they didn't reach recruits or simply left a message.
"The athletics department failed to adequately monitor its sports programs and educate its coaches regarding telephone communication with prospective student-athletes," the paper said, citing the report.
In total, 33 coaches in all 18 varsity sports at ISU were found "at-risk for 1,405 impermissible calls." Also, 165 impermissible text messages were found to have been sent, with 160 attributed to Moore.
