Predicting Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey’s 2017 season

For his first season, Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey had an average season. It wasn’t the best that he could’ve had, but he showed Jaguars fans promise and potential. With him being one of the only true defenders in the secondary, lots of pressure was put on him. With the Jags adding veterans Barry Church and A.J. Bouye this offseason, Ramsey will be setup for success.

2016 season

Ramsey recorded 65 total tackles along with one forced fumble and two interceptions. Not exactly a super strong start to his career, but he shows that he can compete. I believe that with having Barry Church and A.J. Bouye to go along with Ramsey, they will provide Ramsey help which will allow Ramsey to do his job well.

With the Jaguars having one of the easiest schedules in 2017, the defense will be able to help keep the offense on the field. Although the Jags have an easier schedule, Ramsey won’t. His first test will be against Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans. Watson is an upgrade from Brock Osweiler for the Texans and he should make an impact. Ramsey will have to face a receiving core of DeAndre Hopkins, Will Fuller and Braxton Miller who could be a dangerous trio.

Ramsey will also go up against receivers Antonio Brown, T.Y. Hilton, Corey Davis, Larry Fitzgerald, and A.J. Green. Everyone of these receivers are going to be trouble for secondaries. If Ramsey can get some help from the other members in the secondary, Ramsey has the ability to shut down these top receivers.

How will he do in 2017?

Going into his sophomore year, Ramsey should improve from last season. The Jaguars got stronger and now it’s time for them to provide results. Ramsey shows that he can be a force to be reckon with but he’ll need to consistently improve.

Season prediction: 93 tackles, two forced fumbles and five interceptions.

I believe that he’ll make a leap in 2017. Now that he has a year of experience in the league, he’ll be able to see what he needs to improve and will go out and produce. Ramsey is looking dangerous, and he should be as long as he does his part and plays well.
