Mexico City (AFP) - Highly-rated young Mexican goalkeeper Raul Gudino signed for Portuguese giants Porto on Tuesday on loan for 10 months from Chivas Guadalajara.
The 18-year-old, who was a member of the Mexican side that reached the final of the Under-17 world championships last year, will compete with four others for the first choice spot at the club.
Gudino, who has never played a top tier match in Mexico but is regarded as one of the brightest goalkeeping prospects in world football, could earn a permanent move to Porto if he impresses them enough on his loan spell.
Gudino, who will join compatriots Diego Reyes and Hector Herrera at the club, shone in the Under-17 championships in the United Arab Emirates especially in the quarter-final penalty shootout with Brazil where he saved two spot kicks and scored one of his own.
Mexico went on to lose to Nigeria in the final.
