Giants secure Pence with one-year deal

The San Francisco Giants are keeping outfielder Hunter Pence around for another year, reaching agreement on a one-year, $13.8 million deal that avoids aribtration, CBSSports.com reported.
Pence, 29, gets a big raise from the $10.4 million he made last year, when he batted .253 in 160 regular-season games with 24 home runs and 104 RBI.
His batting average was down last year from a career mark of .285 in six major-league seasons with Houston, Philadelphia and the Giants. In 2011, he batted .314 with 22 homers and 97 RBI for the Phillies.
