Paul Millsap scored 34 points and recorded 15 rebounds to help the Atlanta Hawks nip the Boston Celtics, 92-91. Atlanta (18-14) has now won seven of their last 10 games.
Millsap finished 12-19 from the field, in a good performance. Atlanta also got solid performances from Jeff Teague with 16 points and 6 rebounds, and Kyle Korver with 14 points and 5 assists. On 8-11 shooting, including 3-5 from behind the arc, Kelly Olynyk scored 21 points off the bench for Boston in the loss. Kris Humphries added 18 points and 10 rebounds.
In addition to 25.0% from 3-point range, the Celtics tallied an eFG% of just 44.6%. They are 1-4 on the season when registering marks below 30% and 45%, respectively, in those statistics. The Hawks, conversely, are undefeated (6-0) when holding the opposition to such dismal shooting numbers.
This drops Boston (13-18) to 1-1 versus Atlanta on the season.
Coming up, the Hawks square off with the Golden State Warriors, who are 19-13 on the season. The Celtics go up against the Chicago Bulls, currently sitting at 12-17 this year.
