Paul George scored 24 points and added 10 rebounds, his third double-double of the season, to lead the Indiana Pacers to a victory over the New Orleans Pelicans, 99-82. This is the seventh win for Indiana (26-6) in its last 10 games.
George shot 8-24 (2-9 from three-point range) and 6-7 from the free throw line. Lance Stephenson chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds for Indiana as well. Despite the loss, Eric Gordon put up 21 points for New Orleans on 9-16 shooting, including 3-5 from behind the arc. Alexis Ajinca added 17 points and 7 rebounds and Anthony Davis finished with 10 points and 8 rebounds.
The Pelicans dished out 15 assists versus 17 turnovers, a ratio of just .88. They are 0-1 on the season when committing more errors than assists in a game. The Pacers, on the other hand, are undefeated (11-0) when forcing opponents beneath 1.00 in assist-to-turnover ratio.
This drops New Orleans (15-17) to 0-2 versus Indiana on the season.
Coming up, the Pacers take on the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are 11-22 on the season. The Pelicans go up against the Miami Heat, currently sitting at 25-8 this year. The Pacers emerged victorious each of the last two times against Cleveland.
