The ECHL’s Greenville Swamp Rabbits already own our favorite logo in all of sports, and now they’re mixing hockey with one of our all-time loves: video games.

On Saturday night, when the Swamp Rabbits host the Norfolk Admirals, it will be “Video Game Night,” and the team will be wearing special jerseys with their mascot, Stomper, in pixelated form in what appears to be a scene from the old Nintendo game “Bayou Billy.” There will be 8-bit carrots on the sleeves and the number font will have a digital look to them.

This isn’t the first time an ECHL team has created jerseys with a video game theme. Last season, the Toledo Walleye held “8 Bit Night” in honor of Nintendo’s 30th anniversary. Both the Walleye and their opponents wore Super Mario Bros.-themed jerseys and brought back memories of those dastardly Koopas.

Bidding has already begun for the Swamp Rabbits’ gameworn jerseys. No word if they come with the 1980s gaming console of your choice (Yo, ColecoVision!).

What do you think?
