Oakland A's pitcher Jarrod Parker and outfielder Yoenis Cespedes were scratched from the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Texas Rangers because of ailments.
Parker was scheduled to start Sunday's game, but could not pitch because of an illness, according to MLB.com. Tommy Milone, who had been moved to the bullpen in late August, got the start in Parker's place.
Parker, who is 11-5 with a 3.55 ERA, is expected to return for his next start.
Cespedes was was left out of the lineup because of soreness in his right shoulder, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Nate Freiman replaced Cespedes as the designated hitter in the lineup.
Cespedes hopes to return in a day or two. He is hitting .241 with 23 home runs.
