Parise hopes to re-sign with Devils, rules out jumping to rival Rangers

It was bad enough that his New Jersey Devils just lost the Stanley Cup to the Los Angeles Kings, but Devils captain Zach Parise was very clear about one thing that has developed in the meantime.

With NHL free agency due to start July 1, Parise told reporters in Newark on Wednesday that he wants to stay with the Devils, is optimistic a deal can be reached to re-sign with the team before the free agency period kicks in, and if there's one team he will not sign with is the rival New York Rangers.

"No," is the way Parise answered when asked if playing with the Rangers was an option if a deal can't be reached with the Devils.

Parise, 27, earned more than $5 million last season. Devils president/general manager Lou Lamoriello has said that re-signing Parise is one of his top priorities.
