Righty Anthony Bass went on the 15-day disabled list Sunday. The 24-year-old Bass departed his last start
against the Texas Rangers after 60 pitches last Wednesday afternoon due to an inflamed right shoulder. He
received medication in hopes that the inflammation would allow him to make his next start. Bass said he
expects to return to the rotation when eligible around the All-Star break. "I was hoping to dodge the
disabled list," said Bass. "I'm feeling a lot better. But I know what they are thinking and it's probably
smart to completely clear this up." "We are encouraged by the way Anthony is feeling," said manager Bud
Black. "But it didn't look like he could be back in time (to make Tuesday's start in Houston). So we're
going to be conservative and give him more time."
