San Diego Padres right-handed pitcher Micah Owings has been placed on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained right forearm, the team announced Thursday.
The team called up right-hander Dale Thayer from Triple-A Tucson to take his place on the roster.
The club also moved right-handed pitcher Dustin Moseley to the 60-day disabled list after he underwent season-ending shoulder surgery on Wednesday.
Owings, 29, has a 2.79 earned run average in six relief appearances this season.
Thayer, 31, has not allowed a run in 8 1/3 innings this year at Tucson.
