San Diego Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal, who showed potential as a rookie last season, will rejoin the Padres Tuesday after serving his 50-game suspension for testing positive for elevated levels of testosterone, reported.
Grandal, 24, had a brief rehab assignment, and will be with the Padres this week, but it's unclear how the Padres plan to use him.
Grandal hit .297 with eight homers in 60 games as a Padres rookie last season after being acquired from the Reds in the Mat Latos deal in December 2011,
The Padres plan to send John Baker to Triple-A Tucson to make room for Grandal on the active roster.
