Wide receiver Greg Jennings began planning for his departure from the Green Bay Packers almost immediately after the 2012 season ended. Monday's deadline to designate franchise players passed without Jennings receiving the one-year franchise tender from the Packers, which likely frees Jennings to become an unrestricted free agent on March 12.
Jennings caught just 36 passes last season when he missed eight games with a groin injury that required surgery.
In his absence, quarterback Aaron Rodgers developed a rapport with Randall Cobb, who led the team with 80 receptions, and sharpened his connection with James Jones, who caught an NFL-best 14 touchdowns.
It's possible the Packers will also part with tight end Jermichael Finley, who has reportedly refused a reduction in his salary after catching 61 passes for 667 yards and two touchdowns in 2012.
