Packers release LB Bishop

Shopped during and since the 2013 NFL Draft, linebacker Desmond Bishop's days with the Green Bay Packers ended Monday.
Bishop, due $3.464 million in base salary for the upcoming season, was released by the Packers, who are deep at linebacker.
Other teams are likely to be interested in Bishop.
Bishop, 28, is headed for Minnesota on Tuesday, according to, and in Minneapolis reported that Bishop will work out for Vikings officials on Wednesday.
. Bishop can play strong-side linebacker in the 4-3 defense but was an inside linebacker in Green Bay's 3-4 scheme.
He signed a four-year, $19 million contract with the Packers in January 2011 but he missed the 2012 season with a ruptured hamstring suffered in the preseason opener last August.
Brad Jones, a seventh-round pick in 2007, and 2012 fifth-rounder Terrell Manning are capable of stepping in alongside AJ Hawk.
