The Green Bay Packers had a tough cut-down day, but they have finally announced all their roster moves and the final 53-man roster.
After much deliberation and debate, the 22 roster cuts that Ted Thompson had to make have been carried out to get the active roster down from 75 players to 53. It's an unpleasant process which saw a handful of experienced players released with the intent of passing them through onto the Practice Squad.
The final set of roster cuts included placing third-round rookie Khyri Thornton on injured reserve along with a handful of others.
This year's roster features a handful of surprises. For one, rookie cornerback Demetri Goodson appeared to be outplayed by Jumal Rolle, but Goodson got a roster spot instead. Safety Chris Banjo was the victim of a numbers game at safety. And the team will carry two undrafted rookies this season in defensive tackle Mike Pennel and outside linebacker Jayrone Elliott.
Without further ado, here is the Green Bay Packers' final 53-man roster as of the August 30th deadline:
Stay tuned, as the team may be making some moves throughout the weekend. For example, the team already has plans to bring in former Washington lineman and will likely be signing their practice squad players following the closing of the waiver process on Sunday.
