Ozzie Smith auctioning off memorabilia

Baseball hardware that Hall of Fame shortstop Ozzie Smith accumulated during his illustrious 19-year career is on the auction block.

Smith, 57, is parting with his 13 Gold Glove awards, World Series rings from 2006 and 2011 given as gifts by the St. Louis Cardinals, 11 rings from All-Star Games, his Roberto Clemente and Lou Gehrig awards and various other awards for "estate and family planning," ESPN.com reported.

No additional reasons or personal financial details were given on the reasons for Smith's intentions. He earned nearly $32 million during a playing career that ended after the the 1996 season.

Smith served as a special instructor for the Cardinals during spring training this year.
