PAMPLONA, Spain (AP) -- Osasuna beat Elche 2-1 Friday for its first win of the Spanish league season, provisionally lifting the team out of last place.
The much-needed victory for the Pamplona-based side came in the home debut of new coach Javi Gracia, who replaced the fired Jose Mendilibar.
Midfielder Emiliano Armenteros opened the scoring for Osasuna at Reyno de Navarra Stadium in the 16th minute, and Oriol Riera added another goal in the 48th after goalkeeper Andres Fernandez made two saves to frustrate Elche's best efforts.
''This was a like a final for us,'' Riera said.
Elche was left without a victory through five rounds in its return to Spain's first division.
PARIS (AP) - Saint-Etienne missed the chance to provisionally move into first place in the French league after slipping to a 2-1 home loss to Toulouse.
Saint-Etienne took the lead in the 18th minute when goalkeeper Ali Ahamada spilled a cross from Fabien Lemoine and winger Romain Hamouma turned in the loose ball for his third league goal of the season.
Toulouse equalized in the 63rd through Denmark forward Martin Braithwaite and added the winner in the 75th when left back Issiaga Sylla ran to the back post to turn in a cross from right back Serge Aurier.
The defeat means Saint-Etienne remains in second place ahead of this weekend's matches, one point behind leader Monaco, while Toulouse climbed out of the relegation zone and into 15th spot.
BERLIN (AP) - Borussia Moenchengladbach defeated Eintracht Braunschweig 4-1 to extend the promoted team's lackluster return to the Bundesliga.
Oscar Wendt opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, and Max Kruse crossed for Raffael to make it 2-0 with a header in the 31st.
The visitors improved after the break and Mirko Boland pulled a goal back in the 58th, only for Kruse to score a penalty in the 72nd and Raffael to seal the result with his second goal four minutes later.
Braunschweig has just one point from six games on its return to the top flight after a 28-year absence.
