Orioles sign Jurrjens to minor-league deal

It was reported last month that pitcher Jair Jurrjens had agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Baltimore Orioles, but when the Orioles finally announced the signing Friday, the team said the contract was a minor-league deal with an invitation to spring training.
It suggests the Orioles reconsidered some aspects of the deal or that Jurrjens' physical gave them reason for concern.
After a productive 2011 season with the Braves, when Jurrjens went 13-6 with a 2.96 earned run average, he slipped to 3-4 with a 6.89 ERA in 2012.
