The Baltimore Orioles needed some help at the catching position after Taylor Teagarden broke his thumb, and they acquired minor-league catcher Chris Snyder from the Los Angeles Angels in a trade that sent relief pitcher Rob Delaney to the Angels.
Snyder hit .176 with seven homers for the Houston Astros last season, but he has not played in a major-league game this year. He is hitting .342 with seven homers in 21 games at Triple-A, and CSNBaltimore.com reports the Orioles probably will call him up to be Matt Wieters' backup.
Delaney has not pitched in the majors since 2011, when he was with the Tampa Bay Rays.
