BALTIMORE -- Baltimore's Wei-Yin Chen earned the win after coming off the disabled list earlier in the day, and Manny Machado got his league-leading 36th multi-hit game, propelling the Orioles to a 6-1 victory over the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night.
Chen (4-3) allowed one run on three hits over seven innings. He struck out four and walked three while lowering his ERA to 2.82.
Machado went 3-for-5 with an RBI triple. Nolan Reimold hit a three-run home run for the Orioles, who will look to salvage a series split Thursday after dropping the opening two games.
Texas starter Josh Lindblom (1-3) gave up six runs on nine hits and four walks in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out one.
Chen held the Rangers scoreless until Adrian Beltre's RBI groundout in the sixth inning cut the Orioles' lead to 6-1. However, Baltimore remained in control, and right-hander Tommy Hunter pitched two scoreless innings to close out the game.
Chen, who went on the disabled list May 12 with a strained right oblique, retired 12 of the first 13 batters he faced and did not allow a hit until Adrian Beltre singled with two outs in the fourth.
Baltimore jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third. Machado hit an RBI triple and later scored on a wild pitch by Lindblom, who struggled with his command.
The Orioles then took control with a four-run fourth inning. Brian Roberts had a long RBI single that caromed off center fielder Engel Beltre's glove and missed being a home run by just a few inches. Reimold followed with his homer that cleared several rows in left field.
Baltimore struggled with runners in scoring position, stranding 10 men on base.
NOTES: Texas RHP Yu Darvish was scratched from his scheduled Thursday start and was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 7, because of a mild strain in his upper right back. He will be eligible to be activated for a July 22 start against the New York Yankees. Texas has yet to name a replacement starter for the series finale in Baltimore. ... Rangers RHP Alexi Ogando, who is recovering from right shoulder inflammation, will make his second scheduled rehab start Thursday for Triple-A Round Rock in Omaha. ... Orioles DH Chris Dickerson was removed from the lineup after leaving batting practice with an undisclosed injury. He was replaced by Reimold ... Baltimore CF Adam Jones took just his second walk since May 18 in the third inning. He finished 2-for-4.
