'Olympic Nan': Meet the adorable British grandma who's winning the Olympics
We’re only a few days into the 2016 Rio Games and it’s already become clear that the best Twitter account to follow doesn’t belong to a swimmer, runner, basketball player or fencer.
The best Twitter account doesn’t belong to any athlete, in fact. It belongs to Mavis, the adorable tweeting grandmother of British swimming standout Adam Peaty.
Self-branded as “Olympic Nan,” Mavis has been extremely active when tweeting about the big achievements of her famous grandson. Adam Peaty broke the world record in the 100m meter breaststroke during a preliminary heat on Saturday and will go for the gold in that event on Sunday night.
Mavis will surely be tweeting during Adam’s attempt as she has been for months. Her bio simply reads “Proud Nan to a World Champion Breaststroker.”
Here’s a sampling of some of her best missives:

Go and peruse her account for a bit and you’ll soon come to a conclusion: Every Olympian should have a nan on their side like Mavis.
