Old Dominion beats VMI 81-73

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) Kent Bazemore scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds to help Old Dominion beat Virginia Military Institute 81-73 on Thursday night, snapping a three-game losing streak.

Trian lliadis scored 15 points and Dimitri Batten had 11 for the Monarchs. Old Dominion also got 10 points and 12 rebounds from Chris Cooper and 11 points and nine rebounds from Donte Hill.

The Monarchs (6-6) outrebounded the Keydets 51-27.

VMI (5-7) and Old Dominion each scored 30 points in the paint but Old Dominion converted 20 second-chance points, compared to just eight for the Keydets.

Keith Gabriel led the way for VMI, scoring 34 points on 12-of-22 shooting. Gabriel knocked down four 3-pointers but no other VMI player scored in double figures.

Old Dominion leads the series 20-4, winning the last 11 meetings between the two teams. VMI last won in 1977.
