Terron Beckham caught the attention of NFL scouts and fans with his solid pro day numbers and incredible athletic build. The cousin of Giants Pro Bowl wideout Odell Beckham Jr. even got a tryout with the New York Jets as a running back, but it didn't work out.
Beckham posted a message to Instagram of himself in a Jets jersey with the caption, "Dreams don't have to stop when you have awakened." It seemed to be a message that he wouldn't make the team, which was later confirmed by NJ.com.
OBJ's cousin was a longshot to make the 90-man roster. The 23-year-old didn't play college football and the last time he played in any football game was 2010, as he revealed to reporters earlier this month. He most recently worked as a personal trainer, and admitted at his pro day in April that he needed a lot of work.
"I understand I have a big (learning) curve, for not playing college football," Beckham said. "I have a lot to catch up and learn and do."
Just because the Jets passed on him doesn't mean Beckham's NFL dream is over. He had interest at his pro day, especially after he posted 36 bench press reps at 225 pounds, a 44.5-inch vertical, an 11-foot broad jump, and a 4.49 40-yard dash time.
Just realized Terron Beckham would have finished 1st among ALL prospects in vertical AND bench at NFL combine if posted same numbers there— Brent Sobleski (@brentsobleski) April 7, 2016
Maybe his cousin can pull some strings and get him a tryout with another team.
