Norwegian kicker Havard Rugland worked out for the Green Bay Packers on Friday.
Rugland was released by Detroit on Tuesday after the Lions decided to go with veteran David Akers.
"Had a great workout with Green Bay this morning. Thankful for the opportunity," the YouTube sensation said on Twitter.
Packers veteran kicker Mason Crosby made an NFL-low 63.6 percent of his field goal attempts last season but held off free-agent challengers Giorgio Tavecchio and Zach Ramirez in training camp this year.
Rugland, who had not played organized football until joining the Lions, was 3-for-3 on field goal attempts during the preseason for Detroit, connecting from 33, 49 and 50 yards. Akers kicked for the San Francisco 49ers last year and made only 69 percent of his field goal tries, second worst in the NFL behind Crosby.
