No. 1 Star: Anders Nilsson, Buffalo Sabres

Nilsson was tremendous between the pipes during a 2-1 shootout win over the Anaheim Ducks. He stopped 39 shots in regulation and overtime and then another seven in the shootout. In the end, it was Rasmus Ristolainen pulling off the dirty dangle for the win:

No. 2 Star: Mark Giordano, Calgary Flames

Giordano factored into all three Flames goals in a 3-1 win over the Dallas Stars. The captain assisted on Calgary’s first two goals and then added one of his own as the Flames built up a 3-0 lead. Matthew Tkachuk had a goal and an assist while Brian Elliott stopped 24 of 25 shots faced to win his 10th straight game.

No. 3 Star: Aleksander Barkov, Florida Panthers

Barkov scored in regulation and put home the only goal in the shootout as the Panthers edged the New York Rangers 4-3. James Reimer made 29 stops in regulation and overtime and three more in the shootout, while Jaromir Jagr set another NHL record with a pair of assists. Barkov’s goal was a display of lovely hands:

Honorable Mention: Jonathan Bernier was solid as well in net stopping 35 shots between the four periods and the shootout … Rickard Rakell continued his career season by picking up his 31st of the year … Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby tied Brad Marchand for the NHL goal scoring lead with a pair during a 6-4 win over the New Jersey Devils. Crosby also added an assist and is up to 77 points on the season, two behind Marchand and Connor McDavid for the league lead. His assist tied him with Jaromir Jagr for second on the Penguins’ all-time list.

Congrats to Penguins rookie Carter Rowney for scoring his first NHL goal … Matt Murray had some nice moments:

Dishonorable Mention: The Rangers have now lost six in a row at Madison Square Garden … New Jersey has dropped all four meetings against the Penguins this season.
