San Jose Sharks defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic was fined Thursday for slashing Minnesota Wild forward Dany Heatley during Wednesday night's game.
Vlasic received $8,378.38 penalty, the most allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Vlasic was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for slashing at 20:00 of the third period. As a first-time offender, the maximum fine is the lesser of $10,000 or one-half of his daily salary. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

---The Nashville Predators recalled forward Chris Mueller and defenseman Ryan Ellis from their AHL affiliate in Milwaukee.
Mueller, 27 has two goals in seven games with the Predators this season. In 55 games with Milwaukee, he has 18 goals and 18 assists. Ellis, 22 two goals and four assists in 31 games with the Predators this season.
