The Pittsburgh Penguins returned Kris Letang to injured reserve on Wednesday after he suffered a broken toe in Tuesday night's 1-0 win over Montreal.
Letang was just activated from IR on Tuesday after missing four games because of a lower-body injury. Also, goalie Marc-Andre Fleury is dealing with a back injury that caused him to leave Tuesday's game after the second period.
To take Letang's place on the roster, the Penguins recalled defenseman Simon Despres from the AHL.

--The Boston Bruins claimed left winger Kaspars Daugavins off waivers on Wednesday from the Ottawa Senators. Daugavins, 24, had one goal and two assists with nine penalty minutes in 19 games with the Senators this season.
