NHL roundup: Panthers fire coach Dineen

The Florida Panthers fired head coach Kevin Dineen and assistant coaches Gord Murphy and Craig Ramsay on Friday, the team announced.
The Panthers are off to a 3-9-4 start to the season, and have gone seven games without a win.
General manager Dale Tallon met with the team after its 4-3 overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday, but was not ready to fire Dineen at that point.
The Panthers followed with a 4-1 loss to the Boston Bruins on Thursday, leading to the coaches' dismissals.
Peter Horachek will serve as interim coach. He coaches the team's AHL affiliate in San Antonio. Previously, he was an assistant coach with the Nashville Predators.

---Washington Capitals winger Jason Chimera agreed to a two-year, $4 million contract extension, the team announced.
He will make $2 million in each of the next two seasons and is now under contract through the 2015-2016 season. Chimera is making $1.7 million this season and would have become a free agent at season's end.

---Florida Panthers center Jesse Winchester was scheduled to have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Friday regarding his hit on Boston Bruins center Chris Kelly Thursday night at TD Garden.
