Forward Joffrey Lupul signed a five-year, $26.25 million contract extension with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday.
Lupal, 29, finished second on the team in 2011-12 in goals (25), assists (42) points (67) and power-play goals (8) despite a shoulder injury ended his season early. His assists and points totals were career highs.
According to reports, Lupal's deal has a limited no-trade clause that includes a list of 14 teams he'd consider if the Leafs tried to move him.
Lupal came to the Maple Leafs in 2011 from Anaheim, where he missed most of the 2009-10 season after back surgery. He also has played for Edmonton and Philadelphia.
--- Chicago Blackhawks left wing Dan Carcillo will be out action about a month after he sustained a knee injury in Saturday's 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Carcillo had an assist in Saturday's game, and he had two goals and nine assists for Chicago last season, when he was limited to 28 games because a knee injury.
---Philadelphia Flyers center Zac Rinaldo required 20 stitches in his leg after his leg got sliced by a skate, CSN Philly'sTim Panaccio reported. He will need to be examined further before it is determined how long he will be sidelined. Rinaldo, 22, played 66 games for the Flyers last season, collecting two goals and seven assists.
