Dec 1 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Sunday's National Hockey League games - - - Red Wings 4, Senators 2 Daniel Alfredsson made his first return to Ottawa's Canadian Tire Centre after 18 years as a Senators player and scored a goal to lead his new team, the Red Wings, to the win. Alfredsson had spent his entire career with Ottawa before signing a one-year deal to join Detroit in the offseason. With his third period goal, the Wings (14-7-7) improved their winning streak to four games. The loss was the third in four games for the Senators (10-13-4), who have lost four in a row at home. Red Wings winger Drew Miller had two goals, while winger Johan Franzen also scored. Wingers Clarke MacArthur and Mika Zibanejad replied for the Senators. - - - Oilers 3, Stars 2 (Shootout) David Perron scored the deciding goal in the shootout, beating Dallas goaltender Kari Lehtonen top shelf as the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Dallas Stars. Jordan Eberle also converted for the Oilers in the shootout while Dallas' lone goal in the shootout came from center Rich Peverley. Dallas (12-9-4) got a pair of regulation goals from Ryan Garbutt but they blew a pair of leads to set up overtime and the shootout. Edmonton's Andrew Ference sent the game into overtime with a game-tying goal at 14:53 in the third period. - - - Canucks 3, Hurricanes 2 Ryan Kesler had his third two-goal game of the season and rookie goalie Eddie Lack stopped 29 shots as the Vancouver Canucks rebounded to beat the Carolina Hurricanes. Vancouver was coming off a 5-2 loss in which starting goalie Roberto Luongo was pulled in favor of Lack after allowing three goals in 10 shots against the New York Rangers. In their second afternoon game in as many days, the Canucks (14-10-5) grabbed an early two-goal lead as Kesler broke out of a slump in which he had registered just one goal and four assists in 11 games.
