NFL roundup: Vikings, Bishop agree on one-year deal
The Minnesota Vikings agreed to terms with free agent linebacker Desmond Bishop, according to multiple reports.
ESPN 1500, ESPN.com and the Green Bay Press Gazette each reported Monday that the deal is for one year.
Bishop told SiriusXM NFL Radio last week that he visited the Vikings and Kansas City Chiefs, and the New York Giants, Jacksonville Jaguars and San Francisco 49ers are expressed interest.
Bishop was released by the Green Bay Packers last week.
Bishop missed all of 2012 because of a hamstring injury but said he is now 100 percent healthy.
In 2011, he had 115 tackles and 5.0 sacks for Green Bay.
---Investigators were back in action with scuba gear and metal detectors as they searched a pond and stream near the North Attleborough, Mass., home of New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez.
Hernandez has been the target of scrutiny in the shooting death of 27-year old semi-pro football player and friend Odin Lloyd, whose body was found a week ago about a quarter mile from Hernandez's home.
State and local investigators were at the Hernandez home every day from Tuesday through Saturday, when more than a dozen officials and two K-9 units were present for almost four hours and left with boxes and bags full of what is presumed to be evidence.
---Buffalo Bills Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly said he is cancer-free two weeks after having surgery to remove part of his jawbone where the squamous cell carcinoma was found.
He also said he will not need radiation or chemotherapy.
---Two players -- Indianapolis Colts wide receiver LaVon Brazill and New York Giants wide receiver Brandon Collins -- was suspended without pay for the first four games of the regular season for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse, the league announced.
Both are eligible to return to the active roster on Sept. 30 and can participate in all offseason and preseason practices and games.
As a rookie last year, Brazill made 11 catches for 186 yards with a touchdown in 15 games.
Collins did not make the team's active roster in any games and his chances of making the 53-man roster this year are slim.
---Former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher avoided significant injury during a car accident in New York City on Sunday afternoon, according to the New York Daily News.
Cowher was driving a black Mercedes-Benz when he was cut off by a woman driving a Ford Fusion, according to the police report and witnesses. Cowher's car then hit the Fusion, sending it into scaffolding and sending construction material onto E. 92nd St.
No one was hospitalized, according to the report.
---Former NFL coach Bill Parcells recently told USA Today that he regrets the way his relationship ended with the New England Patriots as he prepares for his Pro Football Hall of Fame induction.
Parcells, who will be inducted at Canton, Ohio on Aug. 3, left the team on bad terms with owner Bob Kraft after guiding it to the Super Bowl in January 1997.
"I regret leaving New England," Parcells said. "Had we done things differently. ... I had a good young team there. I hated to leave that team, because I knew what we could do.
"I was absolutely too headstrong. And he might have been a little headstrong, too. I think both Kraft and myself, retrospectively, would have done things a little differently."
