The Houston Texans signed linebacker Joe Mays to a one-year deal, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Mays is now teammates with quarterback Matt Schaub, whom he injured last season while playing for the Denver Broncos.
Mays' hit on Schaub caused the quarterback to lose a small chunk of one of his ears. Mays was suspended one game and fined $50,000 for the blindside helmet-to-helmet hit.
He later apologized to Schaub and said it was not intentional.
"We're way past that," Schaub said Monday.
Mays, 28, played six games for the Broncos last year before breaking his left leg in October. The team released him last week.

-- Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert was carted off the field during training camp practice because of a sprained right ankle.
The team said Gabbert will be evaluated over the next two days.
He said after practice that he will be fine.
Gabbert, entering his third year, is competing for the starting spot with Chad Henne.

--Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Jason Phillips suffered a torn ACL in his right knee during practice and had to be carted off the field.
Cornerback Brandon Hughes also left practice with a hamstring injury.
Phillips spent the past two seasons with the Carolina Panthers and was expected to be a significant contributor on special teams.

--The Eagles announced that former quarterback Donovan McNabb will have his No. 5 jersey retired in a ceremony Sept. 19 at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Eagles play in a nationally televised game against the Kansas City Chiefs that day.

---Chicago Bears defensive end Turk McBride is out for the season with a ruptured Achilles tendon.
McBride was carted off the field during Monday's training camp practice. He signed a one-year deal with the Bears on March 20.
McBride has 24 career starts and 9.5 sacks.

---Three Cincinnati Bengals players were cleared for practice after being sidelined to start training camp, the team announced.
Tight end/long snapper Bryce Davis came off the active/non-football illness list. Offensive tackle Andre Smith (calf) was removed from the active/non-football injury list. Wide receiver Brandon Tate (hamstring) came off the active/physically unable to perform list.

--- The Tennessee Titans announced they reached agreement on a deal with guard Chance Warmack, who was last remaining unsigned 2013 first-round draft choice.
The team did not release details of the deal, but the Tennessean reported Warmack agreed a four-year contract with a fifth-year team option that is worth a total of $12.17 million. That includes a $7.2 million signing bonus.
Warmack was the 10th overall pick in the draft.

---Safety Chris Banjo and wide receiver Omarius Hines were signed by the Green Bay Packers, who waived safety Ryan McMahon.
Banjo is a 5-foot-10, 207-pound rookie out of Southern Methodist University who signed with Jacksonville as a free agent in April before being waived July 25.

---Fullback Vonta Leach will re-sign with the Baltimore Ravens, coach John Harbaugh announced.
Leach was cut by the Ravens on June 11 after deciding not to take a pay cut.
