The NFL announced Friday that it will observe a moment of silence before each game this weekend for the victims of the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.
The pause will occur just before the playing of the national anthem at each stadium hosting a game.
Authorities say a lone gunman killed 26 people, 20 of them children aged 5 to 10, before killing himself, at Newtown's Sandy Hook Elementary School on Friday morning.
"The majority of those who died today were children, beautiful little kids between the ages of 5 and 10 years old. They had their entire lives ahead of them," President Barack Obama said.
There are 14 NFL games Sunday and one Monday night.
