The Brooklyn Nets' injury list grew Monday with the team's confirmation that forward Paul Pierce will miss two to four weeks with a broken hand.
Pierce sustained a non-displaced fracture of third metacarpal in his right hand during Friday's game against the Houston Rockets. Earlier reports indicated the hand was bruised.
The injury-plagued Nets also are without guard Deron Williams, forward Andrei Kirilenko and guard Jason Terry. Center Brook Lopez and forward Kevin Garnett returned from injuries on Saturday in a win over the Memphis Grizzlies.
In his first season with the Nets after a long run with the Boston Celtics, the 36-year-old Pierce is off to a slow start, averaging just 12.4 points and 4.9 rebounds and shooting below 40 percent from the field in 15 games.
Alan Anderson started in Pierce's spot at small forward on Saturday.
