Earlier in the game, Mavericks guard Vince Carter and Howard exchanged words during a timeout, with Carter calling Howard "the biggest crybaby I know."
ESPN Dallas reported that Carter interrupted Howard's one-sided discussion with an official in the second quarter when he loudly and repeatedly took his jab at Howard.

---New York Knicks coach Mike Woodson said Thursday he is not worried about losing his job.
In an interview on ESPN New York 98.7 FM's "The Stephen A. Smith and Ryan Ruocco Show," Woodson said that he is confident the Knicks (3-8) will turn things.
"I'm going to continue to coach this team and eventually I'm going to get us over this hump and get us on the winning track," Woodson said.
Woodson said he is not concerned about getting fired.
"Absolutely not," he said. "I'll never feel that way because, again, I'm paid to coach. I'm the Knicks' head coach."
