NBA preseason has international flare

The NBA released its 2013 preseason schedule Thursday, which kicks off Oct. 5 in Istanbul.
Part of the 2013-14 NBA Global Games, eight teams will play eight preseason contests in eight cities as part of the 116-game preseason schedule.
The Oklahoma City Thunder play Fenerbahce Ulker of Turkey at Ulker Sports Arena in Istanbul in the opener.
Other preseason games will be played in: Beijing and Shanghai, China; Bilbao, Spain; Manchester, England; Manila, Philippines; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and Taipei.
All eight international games will be televised on NBA TV.
The Thunder will then head to England to face the Philadelphia 76ers at Phones 4u Arena in Manchester on Oct. 8. The 76ers open their preseason on Oct. 6 in Spain against Bilbao Basket at Bizkaia Arena.
The Houston Rockets take on the Indiana Pacers in two games: Oct. 10, in Manila at Mall of Asia Arena and Oct. 13, in Taipei at Taipei Arena.
The Chicago Bulls face the Washington Wizards at HSBC Arena in Brazil on Oct. 12.
The Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors will play two games in China: Oct. 15 at MasterCard Center in Beijing and Oct. 18 at Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai.
TNT and ESPN will each televise two preseason games. On TNT, The Miami Heat visit the Brooklyn Nets on Oct. 17 and the San Antonio Spurs host the Rockets on Oct. 24. In an ESPN doubleheader Oct. 23, the Boston Celtics host the Nets and the Bulls play the Thunder at INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita, Kan.
The preseason concludes Oct. 25.
The regular season tips off Oct. 29 when the Heat host the Bulls and the Los Angeles Clippers play the Lakers at Staples Center in a nationally-televised doubleheader on TNT.
